While there’s still no indication that we’re going to be getting a Killer Klowns from Outer Space 2 any time soon, it sure seems like the 1988 cult classic Killer Klowns from Outer Space (watch it HERE) is more popular than ever now. Spirit Halloween stores are filling their shelves with Killer Klowns merchandise, Mego is releasing an 8″ version of the clown Jumbo, Waxwork Records has released the score on vinyl, and there’s going to be a Killer Klowns from Outer Space haunted house at Universal Studios Hollywood’s Halloween Horror Nights this year. Speaking of, Universal Studios has put together a Killer Klowns short film to promote the Halloween Horror Nights event, and you can check it out in the embed above!
The short is cool, but hopefully it’s not the closest we’ll ever come to getting a sequel.
Killer Klowns from Outer Space was directed by Stephen Chiodo from a screenplay he wrote with his brother Charles Chiodo. Stephen and Charles also produced the film with their other brother, Edward Chiodo. It has the following synopsis:
When teenagers Mike and Debbie see a comet crash outside their sleepy small town, they investigate and discover a pack of murderous aliens who look very much like circus clowns. They try to warn the local authorities, but everyone assumes their story is a prank. Meanwhile, the clowns set about harvesting and eating as many people as they can. It’s not until they kidnap Debbie that Mike decides it’s up to him to stop the clowns’ bloody rampage.
Grant Cramer, Suzanne Snyder, John Allen Nelson, Royal Dano, John Vernon, Michael S. Siegel, Peter Licassi, and Christopher Titus star.
Just last week, we released a Revisited video that took a look back at Killer Klowns from Outer Space. You can watch that at THIS LINK.
