Killer app movie Countdown casts Bateman, Facinelli, 5 more

STX Films has teamed with writer/director Justin Dec for a feature expansion of his short film COUNTDOWN, and it's been a month since we heard that Elizabeth Lail was cast in the lead role. Since then, Dec has been building a supporting cast around Lail, and the names of seven more cast members have now been announced.

Lail's co-stars will include Peter Facinelli (TWILIGHT), P.J. Byrne (FINAL DESTINATION 5), Anne Winters (13 Reasons Why), comedian Tom Segura, Jordan Calloway (Black Lightning), Tichina Arnold (Everybody Hates Chris), and ANNABELLE: CREATION's Talitha Bateman (pictured above).

COUNTDOWN tells the story of

a young nurse who downloads an app that claims to predict exactly when a person is going to die. When it tells her she only has three days to live, she must find a way to save her life before time runs out, all while a mysterious figure haunts her.

The film is being produced by Sean Anders, John Morris, John Rickard, and Zack Schiller. Drew Simon and Catherine Hagedorn are overseeing the project for STX.

I was skeptical about COUNTDOWN when I first heard about it, but after seeing the short film Dec made I have a more positive outlook on it. I'm interested in seeing how this one will turn out.
