I do not watch MAD MEN (I know, I know) so I cannot speak to that, but actress Kiernan Shipka sure impressed the hell out of me with her crazy-eyed, chilly turn as an "is she crazy or is she the victim" chick in the absolutely amazingly horror flick THE BLACKCOAT'S DAUGHTER.
Side note: if you haven't yet peeped THE BLACKCOAT'S DAUGHTER, skip out of work early today, grab some drinks and a lady-friend, and watch that sh*t asap. You. Will. Not. Regret. It.
Back to the story at hand, it looks as if the little Shipka is going to be joining ANNABELLE and WISH UPON director John Leonetti’s next horror flick THE SILENCE.
THE SILENCE is based on the best-selling novel by Tim Lebbon and is set to be adapted by Carey and Shane Van Dyke. Aka The Van Dyke Brothers. Aka the f*cking guys who wrote that damn CHERNOBYL DIARIES flick. THE SILENCE is currently in pre-production and is looking to get filming underway in September.
THE SILENCE synopsis:
The terrifying tale of Ally, a deaf teenager, and her family whose world is turned upside down by a deadly and primeval force. In the fields near her New Jersey home, a colony of bats are attacked by a parasitic insect and soon morph into a new lethal species called Vesps. As the blind, winged creatures quickly grow, spread and attack the human population, Ally’s heightened senses become her strength. She can feel when the Vesps are close and realizes that even the slightest noise summons them in huge numbers. She and her family seek refuge in the woods where they must live in total silence. Amidst the creature chaos, they learn that humans can be just as dangerous when they are fighting to survive.
THE SILENCE is directed by John Leonetti from a script by Carey and Shane Van Dyke and stars Kieran Shipka.
