Deadline is reporting that Kevin Spacey is close to joining two different projects and, oddly enough, both of them happen to star THE FAULT IN OUR STARS actor Ansel Elgort.
First up is Edgar Wright's BABY DRIVER, which already has a cast that includes Elgort, Jon Hamm, Jamie Foxx and Lily James. Spacey is in final talks to play "the boss of the crew, a veteran criminal who has worked his way up the ladder to bigger and bigger scores with a stable of go-to professionals." Wright's "collision of crime, action, music, and sound" will follow "a talented, young getaway driver (Elgort) who relies on the beat of his personal soundtrack to be the best in the game. But after being coerced into working for a crime boss (Foxx), he must face the music when a doomed heist threatens his life, love and freedom." Filming for BABY DRIVER will begin next year for its March 17, 2017 release.
Next is BILLIONAIRE BOYS CLUB, which "centers on the true-life tale of Joe Hunt, who built an investment pool that made him the center of attention in L.A. in the 1980s. It also was built on fraud and schemes, and Hunt ended up murdering a Beverly Hills high-roller whose investment didn’t pan out." The film comes from STRAIGHT A'S and WONDERLAND director James Cox (who also co-wrote the script with Captain Mauzner), and besides Elgort, it also stars Taron Egerton (KINGSMAN: THE SECRET SERVICE), while Spacey has been cast as Ron Levin, "the guy who represents the smart money and the fast lifestyle, rubbing elbows at Spago with Andy Warhol." There's no word though on when production might start, or when the movie will hit theaters.
Spacey is currently filming for the upcoming fourth season of Netflix's House of Cards, and he can be seen next on the big screen starring opposite Michael Shannon in Liza Johnson's ELVIS & NIXON, which is expected to be released some time next year.
