This is sad news, but thankfully it all comes to a happy ending.
Late last night CLERKS and DOGMA writer-director Kevin Smith suffered a massive heart attack that almost had extremely tragic consequences. Lucky, Smith was rushed to the hospital in enough time that the heart attack can be thankfully merely be labeled "a close call" but all the same it is a crazy-scary thought that we might have lost Smith last night if circumstances were a bit different.
I don't know about you but I still find Smith to be one of the biggest inspirations out there. From his work on comedy films such as CLERKS, MALLRATS, CHASING AMY, DOGMA, JAY AND SILENT BOB STRIKE BACK, CLERKS 2, and ZAC AND MIRI MAKE A PRONO, to his recent genre work in our beloved genre with films such as RED STATE, TUSK and HOLIDAYS, Smith is a filmmaker I want to see continue making films for year and years.
Smith made the shocking announcement late last night on Twitter and you can check out his tweet below. After that make sure to hit us up and let us know what your favorite Kevin Smith movie is in the comments below or on social media!
Get well soon, Kevin Smith!
After the first show this evening, I had a massive heart attack. The Doctor who saved my life told me I had 100% blockage of my LAD artery (aka “the Widow-Maker”). If I hadn’t canceled show 2 to go to the hospital, I would’ve died tonight. But for now, I’m still above ground! pic.twitter.com/M5gSnW9E5h
