A premiere date for the Netflix anime series Masters of the Universe: Revelation has not yet been announced, but the show is still one of my most highly anticipated upcoming pieces of entertainment. With Kevin Smith as showrunner and Powerhouse (who also do the Castlevania series for Netflix) handling the animation, this series will serve as a follow-up to the classic He-Man and the Masters of the Universe cartoon from the 1980s and focus on
the unresolved storylines of the iconic characters, picking up where they left off decades ago.
The vocal cast for Revelation includes Mark Hamill as Skeletor, Lena Headey as Evil-Lyn, Chris Wood as Prince Adam/He-Man, Sarah Michelle Gellar as Teela, Liam Cunningham as Man-At-Arms, Stephen Root as Cringer, Griffin Newman as Orko, Henry Rollins as Tri-Klops, Justin Long as Roboto, Jason Mewes as Stinkor, Phil LaMarr as He-Ro, Alicia Silverstone as Queen Marlena, Diedrich Bader as King Randor/Trap Jaw, Tiffany Smith as Andra, Susan Eisenberg as Sorceress, Cree Summer as Priestess, Kevin Michael Richardson as Beast Man, Kevin Conroy as Mer-Man, Harley Quinn Smith as Ileena, original Skeletor Alan Oppenheimer as Moss Man, and genre icon Tony Todd as Scare Glow.
Last night, Todd sent out a tweet to thank Smith for casting him on the show, and Smith responded with some praise for Todd's vocal performance:
The He-Man & She-Ra Wiki describes Scare Glow as "a ghost who labors in service to Skeletor. He is a skeletal ghost warrior, who seems to have a solid but translucent body, and whose bones emit a strong glow which can intimidate even the bravest opponents. He wears a long purple cape and carries a 'Scythe of Doom'." It's going to be very cool to watch this show and hear Todd's "unsettling and commanding" voice come from a glowing skeletal ghost warrior.
