After much back and forth, Kevin Smith is donning the trench coat and backwards cap to…not say anything for the JAY AND SILENT BOB REBOOT, which began filming today. Produced by Saban Films, Smith reteams with his foul-mouthed bud Jay, once again played by Jason Mewes, as they attempt to stop a reboot of the Bluntman and Chronic movie in a follow-up to their endeavor to stop the original from being made in JAY AND SILENT BOB STRIKE BACK. Along the way, I expect we'll see many familiar faces (and maybe a monkey or two), especially if the day one appearance by Jason Lee as his MALLRATS character Brodie Bruce is any indication as they return to the mall in what looks like a comic book store with a sweet Stan Lee tribute going on. No chocolate-covered pretzels in sight, though, so it looks relatively safe.
Check out Smith's heartfelt (like, literally) post below.
Look, I know that many are bored to death of Jay and Silent Bob, but, well, I'm not one of them. While I certainly haven't fallen in love with every Kevin Smith movie since CLERKS (which I still regard an absolute classic), I appreciate his drive to keep doing what he does, whether we like it or not, and I happen to really enjoy the characters of Jay and Silent Bob. In the end, these guys make me laugh and we need some fun, raunchy juvenile comedy every now and again. I'm happy to get it from these guys. But, hey, I'm just one guy, what do you guys think?
Will you be turning out for the JAY AND SILENT BOB REBOOT? What guest stars do you want to see pop up?
