Kevin Smith launches Mooby’s delivery service in LA for COVID-19 charity

We all want to do our part during times like these. Some have chosen to host dance parties online, giving people a reason to dance and forget their troubles. Others have seen fit to volunteer for organizations that find them on the front lines, willing and able to do whatever it takes to get us all back to some manner of normal. If you're filmmaker Kevin Smith, you join the folks of No Us Without You, a fundraiser that provides food for families of undocumented restaurant workers during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Early Monday morning, Smith announced that the fictional fast-food chain Mooby's from his View Askewniverse films will be transformed into a very real food delivery service exclusively through Postmates in Los Angeles. For the initiative, Smtih has partnered with the same team that established the Saved By the Max and Good Burger pop-up restaurants for Mooby's. To guarantee maximum tastiness, all food to be made available via the Mooby's menu – including exclusive items – will be created and prepared by Chef Royce Burke and the Secret Lasagna team.

This limited time dining experience begins on April 19 and will run through April 25.

“Ever since I put my first Mooby’s in my fourth film Dogma, I’ve always dreamed of taking the fictional food eatery into the real world,” said Smith via Instagram on Monday. “Now, the team behind Saved by the Max is making that dream a reality, complete with the money raised going to benefit No Us Without You. And then, maybe one day when this pandemic passes, we’ll open the doors on an actual pop-up Mooby’s for real!”

Items set to be included as a part of the Mooby's Menu are dishes like "Mooby's Messy Lasagna Sandwich" with a side of "Hater Totz" & "Chocolate Covered Pretzels". Oh man, I see what they did there. Maybe give that bag a sniff before you decide to dig in, yeah? The menu for delivery will be available starting April 19  from noon to 8 pm via Postmates in Los Angeles.

Additionally, if you're uncomfortable with the idea of eating outside food at this time, you'll be pleased to know that a full Mooby's pop-up is expected to launch in L.A. later this year. Bong!
