Marvel certainly has big plans for Carol Danvers (Brie Larson) after she’s introduced in CAPTAIN MARVEL next year, and she will likely be a major force in the MCU. But she’s not the only “Marvel” the studio has plans for, and as they pull more diversity from their canon of characters Kevin Feige recently revealed they have plans to bring the adored Ms. Marvel to the big screen.
Feige was doing an interview with the BBC recently when the interviewer asked him if they had plans to introduce the Pakistani-American hero, Kamala Khan a.k.a Ms. Marvel, into the MCU. The Marvel Studios head said they do indeed have plans for her after they introduce Captain Marvel in 2019. Spoiler Alert: Khan is the one who kills Thanos in AVENGERS 4. Was I not supposed to reveal that?
We’re doing Captain Marvel right now. Captain Marvel‘s shooting right now with Brie Larson. Ms. Marvel, which is another character in the comic books, the Muslim hero who is inspired by Captain Marvel, is definitely sort-of in the works. We have plans for that once we’ve introduced Captain Marvel to the world.

Khan, the first Muslim character to headline a Marvel comic, was introduced in the comics in 2013, making an appearance in “Captain Marvel #14”. Hailing from New Jersey, Khan has the power to shapeshift as well as grow and shrink her body. She got her own run of comics starting in February 2014, taking over the mantle of Ms. Marvel after Danvers became Captain Marvel. The character will also make an appearance in the animated movie MARVEL RISING: SECRET WARRIORS (as voiced by Kathreen Khavari) this year.
So, what do y’all think? Marvel’s cinematic landscape will shift dramatically after next year’s AVENGERS 4, so there will probably be room for a wide variety of new heroes. I’m not sure if Feige will give Ms. Marvel her own movie, though. Maybe as a side character? I’m down for any amount of Ms. Marvel, and it will certainly be a big deal for Muslim audiences.
CAPTAIN MARVEL arrives March 6, 2019.
