Black Panther Captain America: Civil War Chadwick Boseman Inhumans

Marvel's third phase of their cinematic universe is set to kick off very soon with the release of CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR, and in addition to being absolutely jam-packed with heroes and villains, the film will also serve as our first introduction to Chadwick Boseman's Black Panther. Following his turn in CIVIL WAR, the king of Wakanda is set to headline his own solo-film from director Ryan Coogler (CREED). Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige recently spoke with Collider where he said that they were very close to locking down a script for BLACK PANTHER.

We have a number of writers on it including Ryan Coogler, who is also directing, he’s working on the draft right now. Between now and the end of the summer there will be more casting announcements. We start filming at the very beginning of next year.

While I can honestly say that I am looking forward to each and every film on Marvel's slate, some more than others, I've found that it's been the films about the characters I'm the least familiar with which have been the biggest surprises. With Chadwick Boseman already looking like one of the scene-stealer's in CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR and Ryan Coogler at the helm of BLACK PANTHER, I'm already excited discover more about T'Challa. Another part of the Marvel universe with which I'm not overly familiar with are The Inhumans, but as Kevin Feige said to Collider, we may be a little further off from encountering them than we originally thought.

Since we made our initial phase three announcement, we added Spider-Man, which was a big joyous coup for us. We added Ant-Man and the Wasp, which was a big fun continuation of that story for us. Walt Disney Company has announced an Indiana Jones film for right around that same time. So I think it will shuffle off the current date that it’s on right now. How far down it shuffles, I’m not sure yet.

BLACK PANTHER is set for a February 16, 2018 release and while INHUMANS is still slated for July 12, 2019, it seems like we should be prepared for that to change. Meanwhile CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR will hit theaters on May 6, 2016 and the first reactions have been very positive.
