Kevin Feige and Marvel Studios being sought for a new ABC series

As this season's TCA (Television Critics Association) Press Tour continues to deliver hot updates about what's to come from the vast and varied entertainment stratosphere, ABC Entertainment president Karey Burke announced earlier today that she's excited to work alongside Marvel Studios President and Chief Creative Officer Kevin Feige in bringing characters from the comic brand's ever-expanding influence to the ABC network. To be clear, as exciting as this union clearly is, Burke and Feige have yet to discuss which characters would be best suited for a broadcast show.

“We love our partners at Marvel and we’re sad to see [Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D] go, it’s been a big part of our history. We’re looking forward to working with Kevin Feige and we’re at the very beginning of conversations with him now about what a Marvel and ABC show might look like. Right now, Marvel’s focus has been on Disney+, as it should be,” Burke informed Deadline on Wednesday.

Currently, Marvel is working around the clock to produce shows like THE FALCON AND WINTER SOLDIER, LOKI, SHE-HULK, MOON KNIGHT, HAWKEYE, WHAT IF?, MS. MARVEL and WANDAVISION for the Disney+ streaming service. The aforementioned lineup has Marvel fans very excited for the televised future of the House of Ideas, particularly after it was announced that Marvel Television would be shutting down in December of last year.

For a time, ABC had been developing a series with a Marvel female superhero, though it's since been reported by Deadline that plans for this unnamed project have stalled. While few details were shared about this mysterious endeavor at the time, Burke confirmed last August that the central character of the series would have been "something brand new, mostly." While I hate to see original ideas go to waste, it's not like we aren't getting more than we can handle from Marvel in the years to come. Personally, I can never get enough of this superhero stuff. That being said, I wouldn't want Marvel to continue working on something that they feel is half-baked.

What are your predictions for Marvel and ABC's new and mysterious project? Could it be an adaptation of the female-fronted A-Force from creators G. Willow Wilson, Marguerite Bennett and Jorge Molina? Perhaps a show featuring the members of S.W.O.R.D. You know, the Sentient World Observation and Response Department, which functions as a counter terrorism and intelligence agency that deals with extraterrestrial threats to world security. Actually, maybe that's a bit too much like S.H.I.E.L.D. Anyway, we'd love to hear your theories and ideas. Feel free to share them in the comments section below.
