It's been a while since we've seen Kevin Costner in action and if the trailer for 3 DAYS TO KILL is any indication he may well be giving ol' Liam Neeson a run for his money. The McG directed high-concept actioner is written by Luc Besson and feels a lot like CRANK meets TAKEN, which is kind of awesome. It's chock full of cheesy lines, mostly delivered by the beautiful Amber Heard, and has plenty of bad ass action from Costner who looks right at home laying the smackdown on his adversaries. It's not high art and there won't be any golden statues for this, but it looks like a hell of a lot of fun.
Take a look:
Here's the synopsis:
A dying Secret Service Agent trying to reconnect with his estranged daughter is offered an experimental drug that could save his life in exchange for one last assignment.
It feels like we haven't seen Costner much in the last decade, but he's actually put out almost a film a year, although many of them kind of faded into the distance, which is a shame as he's such a terrific presence. Thankfully, the actor is having a bit of a resurgence, appearing this year in MAN OF STEEL and next month in JACK RYAN: SHADOW RECRUIT with Ivan Reitman's DRAFT DAY following on the heels of 3 DAYS TO KILL. That's a lot of Costner for 2014 and that's just the first four months. As a big fan of the actor, I'm pleased to see him taking on more projects and welcome him back to the big screen.
3 DAYS TO KILL, starring Kevin Costner, Amber Heard, Hailee Steinfeld, and Connie Nielsen, hits theaters on February 21, 2014.
