Kevin Costner and Diane Lane thriller Let Him Go gets summer release

Focus Features has announced that they will be releasing the suspense thriller LET HIM GO in North America on August 21, 2020. Universal Pictures International will be handling the film's release outside of North America.

Written and directed by Thomas Bezucha, LET HIM GO is based on a 2013 novel by Larry Watson (you can pick up a copy of that HERE).

Kevin Costner and Diane Lane star as

retired sheriff George Blackledge and his wife Margaret who, following the loss of their son, leave their Montana ranch to rescue their young grandson from the clutches of a dangerous family living off the grid in the Dakotas, headed by matriarch Blanche Weboy. When they discover the Weboys have no intention of letting the child go, George and Margaret are left with no choice but to fight for the survival of their family.

Lesley Manville, Jeffrey Donovan, and Booboo Stewart are also in the cast.

LET HIM GO was produced by Bezucha, with Paula Mazur and Mitchell Kaplan of The Mazur Kaplan Company. Costner served as an executive producer alongside Kimi Armstrong Stein, Jeffrey Lampert, and Rod Lake.

I haven't read Watson's novel, but I am totally on board to watch Costner and Lane go to war with a "dangerous family living off the grid". I'm really looking forward to seeing how LET HIM GO turns out.
