As we all know far too well by this point in time, there was a TREMORS reboot TV series in the works at SyFy with original series star Kevin Bacon. But then it never got past a pilot episode. Super bummer. But today we're hearing from Bacon himself that he still wants to reboot the franchise.
Bacon recently sat down for an interview about the failed TV series reboot, saying:
I have a very specific thing that happened, which was I wanted to reboot Tremors. And worked very hard on it and did a fantastic pilot with Blumhouse. Andrew Miller was the writer of it. We shot the pilot. I thought it was cool and SYFY decided not to go forward with it. I liked that character because it was the only character I really looked at and said, ‘I wanna know where he is 25 years later.' We left him at a certain point, he had this extraordinary thing with these worms, underground worms. He's not a smart man, kind of a loser, but he was able to fight these worms. Now let's see what happened to him 25 years down the line.
So does he think there's any hope that TREMORS reboot could possibly find a home? Bacon says:
I don't know the answer to that. I feel like we’ve explored the options. But, listen, you never know. Stranger things have happened.
Now I don't know about you but I'd kill to see Bacon (successfully) reboot the TREMORS series. How about you? Let us know below. In the meantime, we still have TREMORS 7 aka TREMORS: ISLAND FURY headed our way soon with Micheal Gross and Richard Brake. So that's something.
