This week we got a first glance at the cast of MURDER ON THE ORIENT EXPRESS, the new film version of the classic Agatha Christie tale. The lead character is Christie’s classic creation, detective Hercule Poirot, and fans of the sleuth are looking forward to seeing him and his new mustache back in action. In fact, you may get to see much more of him, as actor Kenneth Branagh has come out and said he’s already down for more mysteries.
While talking with EW to mark the release of the EXPRESS cover issue, Branagh was approached about the possibility of more movies, as Christie wrote dozens of stories featuring her main crime-solver:
I would be thrilled, I must say, I have enjoyed it enormously, to delve into the nature of the character, to read more of the books, to understand, to admire with greater intensity what Agatha Christie’s talents were. That’s been really a great, great creative treat. So, I’d be absolutely delighted to do more, yeah.
Even Judi Dench, who plays Princess Natalia Dragomiroff in the film, is ready for more outings, and Branagh recalls her even willing to don a fancy mustache of her own:
Judi Dench said, “I’ve had such a good time on this, you have to cast all of us in the next one. We’ll all wear different wigs, we’ll play different parts.” She said, “I’ll wear a mustache next time, if you want.”
The images that came out earlier this week rubbed a lot of people the right way, and it appears folks are quite excited to see a classic mystery in theaters. The all-star cast helps too, including STAR WARS’ Daisy Ridley, Johnny Depp and Michelle Pfeiffer. THOR: RAGNAROK will give it some stiff competition by coming out the week before, but EXPRESS could offer some great alternative content for non-comic fans and folks who will have already seen THOR five times in the first week. I'll be in the latter category, but I'm also going no matter what so I can see how that moustache flaps in the winter wind.
MURDER ON THE ORIENT EXPRESS comes to town November 10 with Kenneth Branagh, Daisy Ridley, Johnny Depp, Judi Dench, Michelle Pfeiffer, Willem Dafoe, Penelope Cruz, Olivia Colman, Josh Gad and more.
