THR is reporting THE HANGOVER's Ken Jeong is attached to star in a new comedy for Summit Entertainment called INTERNATIONAL INCIDENT, and Steve Carell is in talks to produce the film through his Carousel Productions. The film is based on a pitch from Carousel creative executives Charlie Hartsock and Vance Degeneres, and former Daily Show head writer David Javerbaum.
INTERNATIONAL INCIDENT will follow "five delegates from the United Nations who embark on a road trip to find one of their lost loves," and David Javerbaum will also write the screenplay.
I like Ken Jeong, but only in small doses, so I'm not sure how I feel about INTERNATIONAL INCIDENT. It could end up being a solid comedy, however a lot is going to depend on how the story plays out, and who else is cast in the planned film.
Ken Jeong can be seen heard next in Dreamworks' PENGUINS OF MADAGASCAR on November 26, 2014, and Steve Carell has two movies out later this year: ALEXANDER AND THE TERRIBLE, HORRIBLE, NO GOOD, VERY BAD DAY on October 10, 2014, and FOXCATCHER on November 14, 2014.
