Kelsey Grammer says the Frasier revival will likely end up on Netflix

We've seen quite a number of past TV shows get the revival treatment in recent years, such as The X-Files, Will & Grace, Murphy Brown, and many more, but it seems as though we could be adding Frasier to that list as well. The Cheer's spin-off, which starred Kelsey Grammer as Frasier Crane, David Hyde Pierce as Niles Crane, John Mahoney as Martin Crane, Jane Leeves as Daphne Moon, and Peri Gilpin as Roz Doyle, ran for 11 seasons from 1993 to 2004, but last year it was revealed that Grammer and CBS TV Studios were testing the waters in regards to a revival.

Grammer was quick to downplay the talk of a revival as he cautioned that Frasier's return is far from a sure thing. "It might happen again, it might not," Grammer said at the time. "We just have to make sure it’s going to be a great show. If it’s not a great show and we don’t hear a pitch that really hits it out of the park, it probably won’t happen." It seems that the actor is a little more optimistic at this point as he's recently been talking about the Frasier revival once again, and while speaking on Jim Norton & Sam Roberts' show on SiriusXM, Grammer said that if the show does happen, it would likely end up at Netflix.

'Cause they’ve got it. You know, Frasier is still, is in like the top 10 on Netflix, in and out, and you just think, ‘Wow, that’s amazing.’ And so it’s likely that that’s kind of where its new home would be.

Kelsey Grammer also recently appeared on The Late Late Show with James Corden and said that he's already been meeting with a group of writers to get the ball rolling. "The first principle is that it is a different story, basically," Grammer said. "Same group of characters, but in a different setting. Something has changed in their lives. Certainly John Mahoney died over a year ago, and we would probably deal with that a little bit, Dad being gone, but the third act of Frasier rather than trying to pick it up like Will & Grace did right where they were." The actor added that they're still in the process of exploring what that third act of Frasier might be, but one thing that Grammer seems sure about is that Dr. Crane won't be hosting a radio show. "He’s passed the radio show. He might be an art dealer he might be a professor. We don’t know yet." Based on what I've watched, there aren't many revivals out there which have justified their return, but as a huge Frasier fan, I'll admit that the thought of the series coming back for more is something I'd be open to. Let's just keep our fingers crossed that they can do so in an intelligent way.
