Kelsey Grammer on his villainous character in Transformers 4 and what Frasier would think of “Bayhem”

The just recently subtitled TRANSFORMERS: AGE OF EXTINCTION isn't very high on my list of most anticipated movies for 2014, but I am very happy that Kelsey Grammer is playing the villain. In a new interview with Empire, Grammer calls his character in the upcoming film "malevolent" and goes on to say he's someone that has been working for the government for a very long time:

"He’s a no-nonsense guy. He’s lived his life in the shadows for 30 years in the service of his country, and he likes to be unremarkable yet very efficient."

Kelsey Grammer was also asked what it's like to work with director Michael Bay:

"I don’t know if Michael has seen Frasier," laughed Grammer. "He’s been very respectful and funny. He’s a terrific guy and quite a filmmaker. He just said to me the other day, 'You’re Kelsey Grammer – you can do whatever you want to do.' So I guess he at least has some acquaintance with my work."

Which brings up an interesting question: what would snooty Frasier Crane think of "Bayhem" and TRANSFORMERS? Here's Grammer's response:

"Well, you know what? I think he might find it offensive in some ways, but there was always a bit of Frasier that wasn’t completely a snob. He always liked blowing up things, too, if he could! When he would discover his inner child, he would revel in it, and I think Transformers is one of those things."

I think Frasier would probably shit all over the franchise if he was around his friends, but would secretly enjoy the films and be confused as to why he was liking something so lowbrow. Damn, I kind of wish FRASIER was still on the air: that wouldn't be a bad episode.

TRANFORMERS: AGE OF EXTINCTION (with Dinobots!) also stars Mark Wahlberg, Stanley Tucci, T.J. Miller, Nicola Peltz and will be in theaters on June 27th, 2014.
