Keira Knightley will track down a serial killer in Boston Strangler movie

Keira Knightley is ready to track down a serial killer as Deadline has reported that she’s set to star in a new drama based on the infamous Boston Strangler murders.

Boston Strangler will tell the true story of Loretta McLaughlin, who was “the first reporter to connect the murders and break the story of the Strangler. She and fellow reporter Jean Cole challenged the sexism of the early 1960s to report on the city’s most notorious serial killer and worked tirelessly to keep women informed. Loretta pursued the story at great personal risk and uncovered corruption that cast doubt on the true identity of the Boston Strangler.” Keira Knightley will star as McLaughlin in Boston Strangler, which is set to be written and directed by Matt Ruskin (Crown Heights) for 20th Century Studios. McLaughlin did plenty of research for the project, including tracking down the families of Loretta McLaughlin and Jean Cole to gain access to their actual research from over 60 years ago. Production on Boston Strangler is set to get underway in Boston this December. The real-life Boston Strangler raped and murdered thirteen women from 1962 to 1964.

Keira Knightley was most recently seen starring in Misbehaviour, a British comedy-drama which took place at the 1970 Miss World competition in London. The newly formed women’s liberation movement argued that the beauty competition objectified women, and disrupted the broadcast by invading the stage. Knightley will next star in Silent Night, a comedy that centres around an extended family having a Christmas dinner in a country setting. In addition to Knightley, the film also stars Matthew Goode, Annabelle Wallis, Lily-Rose Depp, Kirby Howell-Baptiste, and more. Silent Night is set for a December 3, 2021 release.
