As it turns out, even Keanu Reeves can fan out like the rest of us. The Matrix Resurrections actor has revealed he has only ever asked two celebrities for their autographs and I think most would be pretty happy with his choices.
During an appearance on The Late Show, Keanu first revealed that he asked the Velvet Underground’s Lou Reed for an autograph on behalf of a friend who was a fan. Reeves said, “It wasn’t for me, it was for a friend, and [Lou] was cool about it. It was [on] a little piece of paper, and it was [in] blue ink. Yeah, it was good. It just said, ‘Lou Reed.'”
The other signature he acquired was that of one of his co-stars. Legendary comedian George Carlin played Rufus in 1989’s Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure and that presented the opportunity for Reeves to get the autograph. The actor said, “I asked for another. George Carlin. Yeah, he gave me an autograph…It was really funny; he wrote, I think it was, ‘Dear Keanu, F*ck you!'” Keanu went on to add, “I always thought he just wrote that for me, and then I met someone else who said that he wrote the same thing to them! Anyway, beautiful.”
I would call any of these autographs iconic, particularly George Carlin’s because what he wrote sounds like it’s exactly right up his alley. It’s also cool to see that even celebrities can get starstruck and want an autograph from someone they admire. If I met Keanu Reeves and could ask for an autograph, a simple “Woah” on a napkin would be all I need.
What are YOUR thoughts on the two celebrity autographs Keanu Reeves acquired?
