If I’m looking for solid movie recommendations, I think looking to advice from a certain Matrix star may be a pretty great place to start. Keanu Reeves (who we love so much we dedicated a whole week to him), who is currently back as Neo in The Matrix Resurrections, took the time with Esquire to share his list of favorite movies that he believes everyone should watch and the list is pretty impressive.
The list is a collection of movie recommendations between friends that Reeves scrolled through on his phone to find. His The Matrix Resurrections co-star, Carrie-Anne Moss, asked Reeves to throw out a couple of movies that she should watch with her teenage kids. Instead of offering up a couple of suggestions, the actor went all in and created two lists. The first was a pass of favorite films while the second was an updated collection. Moss was pleased with his suggestions and expressed her gratitude by saying, “His work ethic is unlike anyone I’ve ever met, and I’ve seen it up close: He trains harder, works harder, cares more, always asks more and more questions to understand the depth of what we’re doing. And while he was doing all of that for himself, he always had an eye out for me. Like when I asked him for those movies, it seems like a little thing, but he’s so busy, he’s exhausted, and took the time to write this very, very thoughtful list.” You can check out the list of movies Reeves recommended below!
A Clockwork Orange
Rollerball
The Bad Batch
Dr. Strangelove
Seven Samurai
Amadeus
Rosencrantz & Guildenstern Are Dead
The Evil Dead
Raising Arizona
The Big Lebowski
La Femme Nikita (the French version)
The Professional
Young Frankenstein
Blazing Saddles
Monty Python and the Holy Grail
The Outlaw Josey Wales
The Road Warrior: Mad Max 2
Keanu Reeves certainly has great taste and his list offers up a nice mix of classics and genre favorites. The fact that The Evil Dead made his cut probably makes me like the guy even more than I already did. At least I know a movie night with the actor would not be dull as knocked some of these cinematic gems off the list.
What are YOUR thoughts on Keanu Reeves’ list of the movies everyone should watch?
