Keanu Reeves and Roland Emmerich are teaming up for New Angeles TV series

Any Keanu Reeves news is good news right? Well news has been brought forward today that he and Roland Emmerich are teaming up to executive produce a new sci-fi series called New Angeles. I was immediately looking to see if Reeves was going to star in the series but there’s no word on that just yet. Emmerich will direct the pilot himself, so if you’re a fan of his what I would call “the world is going to shit” movies (INDEPENDENCE DAY, 2012) you can perhaps expect something big to go down here. The pilot will be written by Gregg Hurwitz who previously worked on the series V.

Here’s the official synopsis for New Angeles:

The show will be set in the future, based around a young man who escapes the mundane reality of his life by entering an exciting virtual reality world called New Angeles. Once down the rabbit hole, he adopts a new identity, becoming the man he was always destined to be, and in the process, unlocking the keys to a mystery that has real world consequences for him and his family.

As I said, information is limited right now so we don’t know when this will be coming to TV or what network and how many episodes will be waiting after the pilot. It sounds intriguing enough to care though, so they have that going for it. It has obvious MATRIX undertones which help its case as well; who doesn’t love a good MATRIX re-visit? The young man they refer too, it’s safe to say that won’t be Reeves (sorry dude), so that’s a bit of casting I’m curious to see; we will keep you posted.

How do you like the sounds of this one?
