Katja Herbers and Mike Colter investigate the supernatural in Evil promos

This fall on CBS, Westworld's Katja Herbers will be teaming up with Luke Cage himself Mike Colter and Aasif Mandvi, an actor who has 90 screen credits but will always be Mr. Aziz from SPIDER-MAN 2 to me, to investigate claims of supernatural events in the new show Evil. Some promos and a trailer for Evil have been released online, and while I'm not confident that this show is going to go over well with the average viewer of CBS's other detective shows and police procedurals, it looks quite interesting to me because it's surprisingly dark and creepy.

Evil was created by Robert and Michelle King, who also serve as executive producers with King Size Prods. president Liz Glotzer. Robert King directed the pilot. The Kings are best known for creating the shows The Good Wife and The Good Fight, and while I've never seen an episode of either of those I'm pretty sure they're nothing like this one. They previously caught our attention here at Arrow in the Head with the short-lived comedy series BrainDead, which was about aliens eating the brains of politicians.

Described as a "psychological mystery", Evil

examines science vs. religion and the origins of evil. The series focuses on a skeptical female forensic psychologist (Herbers) who joins a priest-in-training (Colter) and a carpenter (Mandvi) to investigate and assess the Church's backlog of supposed miracles, demonic possessions and unexplained phenomena.

Herbers, Colter, and Mandvi are joined in the cast by Brooklyn Shuck, Skylar Gray, Maddy Crocco, Dalya Knapp, and an actor who is featured prominently in the promos, Michael Emerson. His character is Townsend,

a seemingly kind and trustworthy man with a twinkle in his eye and an appealing manner, however, outward appearances couldn’t be more deceiving. An expert witness for the defense in a mass murder case, Townsend may actually be an agent of evil who spurs his followers on to acts of unspeakable violence and murder.

Check out the promos below and see if Evil looks like a show you'd like to tune in for.
