About twenty years ago, an actress named Katee Sackhoff landed her first role in a theatrically released feature film – and that role happened to be Jen in the maligned HALLOWEEN sequel HALLOWEEN: RESURRECTION (watch it HERE). If you saw the reactions to Sackhoff's "spirited" performance at that time, you probably wouldn't have expected that she would go on to become quite popular – and she has, for her work on projects like Battlestar Galactica, 24, RIDDICK, Longmire, and The Flash. But when HALLOWEEN: RESURRECTION was released, Jen got a lot of negative reactions, and was even referred to as the most annoying HALLOWEEN character since HALLOWEEN 5's Tina. And it's quite a feat when you can stand out as annoying when you're sharing the screen with Busta Rhymes' RESURRECTION character Freddie Harris.
To celebrate Halloween this year, Sackhoff decided to take a look back at her performance in HALLOWEEN: RESURRECTION, and sat down to watch the movie in its entirety for the first time ever. It took her eighteen years to get around to doing this because she's not a fan of horror movies, despite having appeared in several horror movies (like WHITE NOISE 2, THE HAUNTING IN CONNECTICUT 2, OCULUS, and DON'T KNOCK TWICE). While she watched the movie, she filmed herself for a reaction video that she posted to her YouTube account, and that video is embedded above.
It's very interesting to watch Sackhoff react to the film and evaluate her performance all these years down the line. In the video, she reveals what Alicia Silverstone had to do with her acting style at the time, discusses the gore effects and screams, and airs a serious grievance about the scene in which her character flashes her bra. If you're a fan of HALLOWEEN movies and/or Sackhoff, it's definitely worth checking out.
Directed by Rick Rosenthal from a screenplay by Larry Brand and Sean Hood, HALLOWEEN: RESURRECTION has the following synopsis:
The reality programmers at DangerTainment have selected a group of thrill-seeking teenagers to spend a night in the childhood home of serial killer Michael Myers. But the planned live broadcast turns deadly when Michael himself decides to crash the party!
Sackhoff and Rhymes were joined in the cast by Bianca Kajlich, Sean Patrick Thomas, Daisy McCrackin, Luke Kirby, Thomas Ian Nicholas, Ryan Merriman, and Tyra Banks, with Brad Loree as Michael Myers. Jamie Lee Curtis also plays Laurie Strode in the film's first 17 minutes, then makes her exit.
