Interviews can be a truly nerve-racking experience. There is the pressure of giving the right answer, selling the product efficiently and not looking like a complete fool. And then there’s what the reporters have to go through! But Kate Winslet has one budding reporter’s back, encouraging her when she showed how nervous she was doing her first professional interview.

While on the promotional circuit for Avatar: The Way of Water, Kate Winslet sat down with a young reporter from the German public TV network ZDF (Zweites Deutsches Fernsehen). Her assigned interviewee was a young reporter who admitted it was her first time conducting an interview.

“This is your first time doing it?” asked Kate Winslet, with occasional meek responses from the reporter. “Well guess what? When we do this interview, it’s going to be the most amazing interview ever. And do you know why? Because we’ve decided that it is going to be.” Winslet continued, “So we’ve decided, right now, me and you, this is gonna be a really fantastic interview. And you can ask me anything that you want and you don’t have to be scared. Everything’s gonna be amazing. OK, you got this! OK, let’s do it!”

You can watch the video clip of Kate Winslet and the junior reporter below:

After the interview, Kate Winslet also posed for a selfie with her interviewer.

As a whole, Kate Winslet never fails to dazzle audiences. With seven Oscar nods and one win (2007’s The Reader), she is one of the most nominated actresses in Academy Awards history. And while Avatar: The Way of Water is climbing the box office charts, did you know she also broke another kind of record? That’s right, Kate Winslet broke her own on-set breath-hold record, previously topping Tom Cruise. Yeah, pretty amazing.

While conducting a celebrity interview can offer a lot of pressure–especially for someone new to the field–hopefully the young journalist can carry some of the advice offered by Kate Winslet throughout her career. We wish her the best of luck!
