Husband and wife filmmaking duo Kate Bosworth and Michael Polish have announced their next feature-length film project with NONA, which will take a hard look at the twisted underbelly of Central America's sex trafficking industry. The story of NONA begins in Honduras with a girl who meets a charming boy named Hecho who promises to get her safely to America to reunite with her mother. Instead, Nona faces a perilous journey when he doesn’t deliver on that promise. Nona is meant to be an acronym, of sorts, for “No Name.”
Produced under their newly-formed production label, Make Pictures Productions, Polish will direct the film which aims to deliver an impactful message on how to go about changing the way in which the world views and decides to act toward the horrendous crime of sex trafficking. The film will shoot in Honduras, Guatemala, Mexico and Los Angeles.
Another project from Make Pictures Productions that's worth mentioning is Crackle's recently announced pilot series entitled THE ROW. That show will focus on men and women who've been sent to death row who then join a program that changes their lives. Again, Bosworth and Polish will act as executive producers on that project, with Polish taking on directorial duties as well.
For the moment, there are no further details available for the making of NONA, but that doesn't mean that you can't catch Polish's Jack Kerouac adaptation of BIG SUR or 90 MINUTES IN HEAVEN; both of which feature Kate Bosworth in a starring role.
