Karl Urban teases Lord of the Rings reunion with John Noble on The Boys

The second season of The Boys launched earlier this month and its popularity has soared to even greater heights as the season premiere has became the most-watched global debut of an Amazon Original series ever. There are just two episodes left before the season wraps up, and it seems that the next episode will bring us a LORD OF THE RINGS reunion we didn't know we wanted.

Karl Urban took to Instagram earlier today and posted a photo of John Noble and himself, who he revealed will be playing Sam Butcher, Billy's father.

Karl Urban played Éomer in Peter Jackson's LORD OF THE RINGS trilogy, while John Noble played Denethor, the Steward of Gondor and father of Faramir and Boromir. I haven't looked at cherry tomatoes the same way since. The next episode of The Boys will debut on Amazon Prime Video on October 2, 2020, so keep an eye out for John Noble!

The Boys takes place in an America where the planet's superheroes have been morally corrupted by their celebrity status and often take advantage of their powers in reckless displays of behavior which threaten the safety of the world. Billy Butcher (Karl Urban) runs a group of vigilantes known as The Boys, who do what they can to keep watch over the superheroes, and, if need be, eliminate them. A third season of The Boys is on the way, as is a spin-off series that will be set at America's only college for young adult superheroes run by Vought International. The upcoming series is set to be scripted by The Boys executive producer Craig Rosenberg and has been described as "an irreverent, R-rated series that explores the lives of hormonal, competitive Supes as they put their physical, sexual, and moral boundaries to the test, competing for the best contracts in the best cities. Part college show, part Hunger Games — with all the heart, satire and raunch of The Boys."
