It was recently announced that Karl Urban has been added to the cast of THOR: RAGNAROK as Skurge the Executioner, and while speaking with IGN, the actor explained why he was interested in taking on the movie. Urban then went on to say that his character will have a great arc in the threequel.
I read a fantastic script that was action-packed and full of great characters. When I heard who was involved — and the cast list dropped yesterday — and [saw] the opportunity to work with [director] Taika Waititi, who I think is one of the most brilliant directors coming through, I made the decision it was something that I wanted to be a part of. And the character is fantastic. He's got a great arc to him. Obviously I can't say too much about it, but I'm really thrilled to be a part of the Marvel universe and to be working on Thor: Ragnarok.
Urban also said that he’s been researching Thor comics in preparation for the role, and although he'll be going bald to play Skurge, he won't have to shave his head until he's finished making the press rounds for STAR TREK BEYOND. Unfortunately, the actor declined to comment on if he has signed on for multiple Marvel movies.
THOR: RAGNAROK is scheduled to be released on November 3, 2017, while Urban can be seen next in STAR TREK BEYOND on July 22, 2016.
