Karl Urban speaks on fans wanting him to be cast as the MCU’s Wolverine

Karl Urban will soon be back on TV screens when season three of The Boys hits Prime Video on June 3, 2022, but there is another role that fans would like him to take on. Fans have been calling Mr. Karl Urban to step in as the MCU’s Wolverine, following in the footsteps of Hugh Jackman, and now the actor speaking on their enthusiastic request.

During a chat with The Guardian, Urban addressed the fan-casting which has had his name included with the likes of Daniel Radcliffe, Taron Egerton, Keanu Reeves, and Tom Hardy, to name a few. While the actor is flattered by the notion, he thinks the studio would want someone a bit younger if they want multiple films with the character:

“Oh really? It’s flattering, but you have to rationally think about it. I’m what, two years younger than Hugh Jackman? I mean, if I was a studio looking to cast someone as Wolverine, I’d pick someone I’ll get three films out of. You’re not going to get three films out of Karl Urban unless you want a 65-year-old Wolverine.”

At least he gave an honest answer although Urban looks more than capable of playing the character if he wanted to. He does some pretty aggressive heavy lifting on The Boys and his age isn’t something that has even crossed my mind. I do imagine that the studio will go a bit younger so that the actor can grow with the role over a number of years.

I guess before we even think about who should play Wolverine we have to get the X-Men introduced in the MCU first. It’s possible that they’ll hold off on the character before introducing him to change things up a bit from the 20th Century Fox run but the character is so popular with fans that they may find it hard to exclude at the jump.

Do YOU think Karl Urban would be a good Wolverine?
