Karen Gillan to star in action thriller Gunpowder Milkshake

After kicking some ass as Nebula in the GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY franchise (in addition to AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR and the upcoming AVENGERS: ENDGAME) as well as JUMANJI: WELCOME TO THE JUNGLE, it seems that Karen Gillan is ready to headline her own action thriller.

THR has reported that Karen Gillan is set to star in GUNPOWDER MILKSHAKE, an upcoming action-thriller set to be directed by BIG BAD WOLVES directors Aharon Keshales and Navot Papushado, who also penned the script with Ehud Lavski. Not much is known about GUNPOWDER MILKSHAKE just yet, but it's said that the project is being described as an assassin story which will span multiple generations and has been compared to KILL BILL and BABY DRIVER, with "stylish, snappy and violent" being the watchwords. Gillan will be the cornerstone of what is envisioned to be an all-female cast and production is looking at kicking off in Berlin this spring after Gillan completes work on the upcoming JUMANJI sequel.

Speaking of JUMANJI, the upcoming sequel will find Dwayne Johnson, Jack Black, Kevin Hart, and Karen Gillan all returning, but it's not known whether or not the sequel will follow the same group of kids in the digital shoes of Smolder Bravestone, Sheldon Oberon, Franklin Finbar, and Ruby Roundhouse or whether a new group will be taking over. "We’re just figuring all of that out now," Kasdan told /Film back in August. Personally, I think it'd be more interesting to see a new group take control of the avatars and give the actors a chance to explore some different characters. Kasdan also said that they plan on keeping the continuity with the original JUMANJI going.

Our hope is to keep a long continuity through the whole thing, even though the story that we’re telling in the second movie, the movie that we’re working on right now is much more connected to the first movie that I made a year ago than it is to the original. We love the idea of keeping all of this together and connected in some way or another.

The sequel to JUMANJI: WELCOME TO THE JUNGLE is currently slated for a December 13, 2019 release
