Already available in 4K Ultra HD in the UK, the "Snyder Cut" of Justice League will be reaching 4K UHD and Blu-ray in North America on September 7th. You can take a look at the cover art below.
Zack Snyder's 4 hour director's cut of the superhero team-up movie Justice League was initially released through the HBO Max streaming service back in March. The film is substantially different from the 2 hour, Joss Whedon rewritten and reshot version that was released to theatres in 2017 (you can watch Whedon's film HERE). A recent Vanity Fair article revealed that Warner Bros. had given Snyder creative control on Man of Steel and Batman v. Superman, but were consistently disappointed with the choices he made. When Justice League went into production, they hired executives to babysit Snyder on set and brought on Whedon to do rewrites. When Snyder showed them his rough cut, they informed him that Whedon would be directing reshoots as well – and that's when Snyder, who was dealing with a devastating personal tragedy and didn't have the energy to fight for his vision of the movie, walked away. Whedon ended up reshooting at least 75% of Justice League, and a Warner Bros. executive still thought it was a "piece of shit".
A few years after the release of the Whedon version, Snyder was able to convince Warner Bros. to give him $70 million to finish his version of the film.
Scripted by Chris Terrio, Justice League has the following synopsis:
Following the death of Superman in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Batman and Wonder Woman recruit the Flash, Aquaman, and Cyborg to form the Justice League and protect the world from Steppenwolf and his army of Parademons, who seek the three Mother Boxes.
The film stars Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Gal Gadot, Ezra Miller, Jason Momoa, Ray Fisher, Ciaran Hinds, Amy Adams, Jeremy Irons, Diane Lane, Connie Nielsen, J.K. Simmons, Joe Morton, Jesse Eisenberg, Joe Manganiello, Amber Heard, Harry Lennix, Kiersey Clemons, Willem Dafoe, Zheng Kai, Karen Bryson, Peter Guinness, Ray Porter, Marc McClure, and Jared Leto.
