It's been a wild ride for those fans who have been campaigning for Zack Snyder to bring his original vision for JUSTICE LEAGUE to life, and against all odds, it was announced earlier this year that Zack Snyder's JUSTICE LEAGUE was actually happening. The project will be taking the form of a four-part series for HBO Max, and although it was initially reported that there would be no reshoots, that all changed when it was revealed that Snyder would be shooting additional scenes with members of the original cast. Little by little, Zack Snyder's JUSTICE LEAGUE has turned into a massive and expensive undertaking for Warner Bros., but the director may not be done with the Snyder-verse just yet.
While speaking during a League of Mayhem live-stream from The Nerd Queens, Zack Snyder teased that he has plans for a potential JUSTICE LEAGUE sequel that would continue the story of Darkseid.
If you said to any of the actors in the movie 'well what happens in the movie' or 'what happens later' or whatever for any movie. And they go 'well I got the script and it's cool and I kind of know this and-' so [Darkseid actor Ray Porter] and I were talking about this and what's cool or what's the right response to some questions. It's a fair question to ask me, you know, like what do I say to the world about, you know, what happens when Darkseid comes to Earth? Then what? You know, Is that a thing? And I think, listen, the truth is that, did I write and did I have and conceive a complete- do I know what happens when Darkseid… yes. I do know what happens. To say and to speculate about what that is and that that would be exciting, I think that's a fine thing.
You might remember that when JUSTICE LEAGUE was first announced, it was originally going to be a two-part movie with Darkseid emerging as the main villain in the second film, so that's likely where many of Snyder's unused ideas are coming from. As for whether Zack Snyder will actually get the chance to continue his JUSTICE LEAGUE story beyond the upcoming four-part series, I wouldn't bet on it, but then again, I wouldn't have bet on the Snyder Cut becoming a thing in the first place, so what do I know. Either way, we'll get to see more of Darkseid when Zack Snyder's JUSTICE LEAGUE debuts on HBO Max in 2021.
