Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom stomps over $1 billion in global ticket sales

As JURASSIC WORLD: FALLEN KINGDOM prepares for its induction into the billion-dollar-club, I only have one question: Who's the unfortunate tailor that's going to be tasked with fitting the T-Rex for its smoking jacket?

It's been announced that the fifth chapter in the Jurassic franchise has roared past the $1 billion mark at the global box office. As the 35th film to ever reach that milestone, the latest dino disaster romp directed by J. A. Bayona has so far earned a domestic total of $304.8 million and $700.7 million across the pond. That total includes the fantasy adventure film's impressive $245.2 million take in China, where the movie currently stands as the 5th highest grossing Western title of all time.

Taking place four years after the events of JURASSIC WORLD (2015), the sequel finds Owen (Chris Pratt) and Claire (Bryce Dallas Howard) returning to the island of Isla Nublar to rescue the remaining dinos from an extinction-level event. As a way of adding to the fun of the new film, B.D. Wong and Jeff Goldblum reprise their roles from the original film series, while Rafe Spall, Justice Smith, Daniella Pineda, and James Cromwell make for some entertaining additions to the franchise.

For those of you keeping score at home, JURASSIC WORLD: FALLEN KINGDOM is the third film of 2018 to reach the $1 billion global milestone after Marvel's AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR and BLACK PANTHER.

JURASSIC WORLD: FALLEN KINGDOM is in theaters now. You can check out our review of the movie here.
