Director Colin Trevorrow's latest addition to the JURASSIC PARK franchise, JURASSIC WORLD: DOMINION, was aiming for a June 11, 2021 release date when it started filming earlier this year. Then the pandemic hit and the production had to be shut down for several months. DOMINION recently started filming again, and just yesterday we heard that Universal was pushing its release back to June 10, 2022.
It's a good thing Trevorrow and his team have been given an extra year to get the movie ready, because production is shutting down again. The director took to his Twitter account to announce that filming is being put on "pause" for two weeks because some people working on the project tested positive for COVID-19. Those people were re-tested and the result was negative that time, but Universal is exercising an abundance of caution and putting filming on hold anyway.
Woke up to the news we had a few positive Coronavirus tests on Jurassic World: Dominion. All tested negative shortly after, but due to our safety protocols we’re going to pause for two weeks. Back soon. pic.twitter.com/DxuqX9UdgX

Trevorrow wrote the DOMINION screenplay with Emily Carmichael, working from an idea he crafted with his JURASSIC WORLD and JURASSIC WORLD: FALLEN KINGDOM co-writer Derek Connolly.
The film stars Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, Daniella Pineda, Justice Smith, Jake Johnson, Omar Sy, Mamoudou Athie, DeWanda Wise, Dichen Lachman, Scott Haze, Campbell Scott, and the original JURASSIC PARK's Sam Neill, Jeff Goldblum, and Laura Dern.
An official synopsis for JURASSIC WORLD: DOMINION isn't available yet, but it's a given that the story will be dealing with the fact that dinosaurs were set loose on mainland America at the end of FALLEN KINGDOM. Trevorrow made a short film called BATTLE AT BIG ROCK that takes place between the events of FALLEN KINGDOM and DOMINION.
A collaboration between Universal Pictures and Amblin Entertainment, DOMINION is being executive produced by Trevorrow and Steven Spielberg, with Frank Marshall producing alongside Pat Crowley. Sara Scott, senior vice president of production at Universal, is overseeing the project for the studio.
