Update: Those who are lucky enough to be seeing F9: The Fast Saga in IMAX theaters this Friday will be getting an exclusive, extended sneak preview of Jurassic World: Dominion. A teaser for the larger-than-life footage was released earlier today, depicting plenty of dinosaurs living it up before getting wiped out by an asteroid.
While the footage is merely a tease, perhaps this brings us one step closer to Universal's Jurassic World and Fast franchises crossing over for one epic film. You laugh, but I've seen the Fast franchise do some pretty outrageous things in the past. I wouldn't put it past Dom and the gang being commissioned to steal some dino DNA from InGen. Let's make it happen, Universal!
Original Article:
Earlier this year, F9 director Justin Lin joked that a crossover between the Fast & Furious franchise and the Jurassic World series wasn't out of the question. "Well, I've never said never to anything," Lin said. "And the fact that part of our philosophy is not to ever be boxed in or labeled. And that's all I will say." Well, this may not be the crossover that Lin had in mind, but the two franchises will be joining forces as an extended preview of Jurassic World: Dominion will debut with IMAX screenings of F9.
A new poster for Jurassic World: Dominion was released which teases the extended preview, as well as a new image from the film. Check those out below!
Diggin' that poster. A press-release from Universal Pictures states that the five-minute preview will be a prologue to the upcoming film and will be set 65 million years ago. "The breathtaking, action-packed scenes, featuring Oscar® winner Michael Giacchino’s iconic score, reveal what Earth looked like long before humans existed and tell the origin story of how dinosaur DNA first came to be carried by a mythic mosquito," reads the description in the press-release. "The Preview features seven new species of dinosaurs, created by the legendary Industrial Light & Magic, that have never been seen in any Jurassic film before. But the Preview doesn’t end there and holds some real trademark Jurassic surprises with dinosaurs later roaming an Earth that is decidedly less theirs alone." I can't wait! Jurassic World: Dominion director and co-writer Colin Trevorrow also commented on the upcoming sneak-peek:
Ever since I was a kid, I have wanted to see dinosaurs in their natural habitat. It may have taken a few decades, but with a little help from ILM, Universal and Amblin, it has finally happened. This Preview is just a glimpse of the film we’ve made. It’s an epic celebration of everything Steven Spielberg and Michael Crichton created, and I can’t wait to share it with the world next summer.
Jurassic World: Dominion will hit theaters on June 10, 2022, with F9 hitting U.S. theaters on June 25th.
