Jurassic World: Dominion IMAX preview teaser takes us back 65 million years

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

A couple weeks ago, it was announced that IMAX screenings of F9, the latest entry in the Fast and Furious franchise, will be accompanied by a 5 minute preview of the upcoming Jurassic Park / Jurassic World sequel Jurassic World: Dominion. Now a teaser featuring images from that preview has arrived online, and you can see it in the embed above. It's only 15 seconds long, but you get to see dinosaurs and that's always cool.

Here's the information on the preview:

The Extended Preview provides a sense of the film’s thrilling spectacle intended for the biggest and most immersive screens. Partially set 65 million years ago, during the Cretaceous period, the action-packed Preview features dinosaurs that have never been seen in a Jurassic film– and reveals mind-blowing scenes and pulse-racing surprises.

The five-minute Special Extended Preview of Jurassic World: Dominion, which audiences will be able to experience in full-screen 1:90:1 IMAX® aspect ratio, includes a prologue to the film’s narrative and is set 65 million years ago, during the Cretaceous period, when dinosaurs roamed the entire Earth. The breathtaking, action-packed scenes, featuring Oscar® winner Michael Giacchino’s iconic score, reveal what Earth looked like long before humans existed and tell the origin story of how dinosaur DNA first came to be carried by a mythic mosquito. The Preview features seven new species of dinosaurs, created by the legendary Industrial Light & Magic, that have never been seen in any Jurassic film before. But the Preview doesn’t end there and holds some real trademark Jurassic surprises with dinosaurs later roaming an Earth that is decidedly less theirs alone.

Jurassic World director Colin Trevorrow is back at the helm for Dominion, working from a screenplay he wrote with Emily Carmichael, based on an idea he crafted with his Jurassic World and Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom co-writer Derek Connolly.

The film stars Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, Omar Sy, Mamoudou Athie, DeWanda Wise, Daniella Pineda, Justice Smith, Jake Johnson, Omar Sy, Scott Haze, Campbell Scott, and Dichen Lachman, as well as original Jurassic Park stars Sam Neill, Laura Dern, and Jeff Goldblum.

There is no plot synopsis available for the film, but Trevorrow has described Dominion as a "true ensemble" in which the Jurassic Park characters are of equal importance to the returning Jurassic World characters.

A collaboration between Universal Pictures and Amblin Entertainment, the film was executive produced by Trevorrow and Steven Spielberg, with Frank Marshall producing alongside Pat Crowley. Sara Scott, senior vice president of production at Universal, oversaw the project for the studio.

Jurassic World: Dominion isn't scheduled to reach theatres until June 10, 2022, but the F9 IMAX previews begin on June 25, 2021. This Friday!
