Jurassic World 3 release date & screenwriter announced!

Well, that didn’t take long…

We are still months away from the June release of director J.A. Bayona’s sequel JURASSIC WORLD: FALLEN KINGDOM and already we have the announcement that the third entry JURASSIC WORLD 3 will officially hit theaters on June 11, 2021. 

On top of that, Deadline has just announced that not only will Steven Spielberg and Colin Trevorrow return to executive produce, along with producers Frank Marshall and Pat Crowley, but the new film will be written by Emily Carmichael along with Trevorrow.

Carmichael recently co-wrote PACIFIC RIM: UPRISING and she and Trevorrow will work off a story by Derek Connolly and Trevorrow, who also wrote both the original JURASSIC WORLD and this summer’s sequel.

It’s important to this franchise that we welcome new creative voices to keep our storytelling fresh and alive. I’m thrilled with the tension and beauty J.A. has brought to Fallen Kingdom, and I know Emily will add another layer of emotion to the concluding chapter of our trilogy.

While there hasn’t been an announcement on who will be returning to the third film cast-wise just yet, we will let you know as soon as we hear anything further. JURASSIC WORLD: FALLEN KINGDOM synopsis:

It’s been four years since theme park and luxury resort Jurassic World was destroyed by dinosaurs out of containment. Isla Nublar now sits abandoned by humans while the surviving dinosaurs fend for themselves in the jungles. When the island’s dormant volcano begins roaring to life, Owen (Chris Pratt) and Claire (Bryce Dallas Howard) mount a campaign to rescue the remaining dinosaurs from this extinction-level event.  Owen is driven to find Blue, his lead raptor who’s still missing in the wild, and Claire has grown a respect for these creatures she now makes her mission.  Arriving on the unstable island as lava begins raining down, their expedition uncovers a conspiracy that could return our entire planet to a perilous order not seen since prehistoric times.

The film is directed by J.A. Bayona and stars Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, Daniella Pineda, Toby Jones, Rafe Spall, Justice Smith, Ted Levine, Geraldine Chaplin, B.D. Wong, and Jeff Goldblum.

JURASSIC WORLD: FALLEN KINGDOM hits June 22, 2018, and JURASSIC WORLD 3 follows on June 11, 2021.
