Original JURASSIC PARK (watch it HERE) stars Sam Neill, Jeff Goldblum, and Laura Dern are all coming back for the sixth film in the franchise, JURASSIC WORLD: DOMINION, and it has been confirmed that they're going to be playing sizeable roles in the film. Neill has said that they're "all the way through the film", and now we know that they're not going to be spending that time keeping a safe distance from the dinosaurs.
Speaking with Insider, Jeff Goldblum discussed filming a scene of DOMINION that involved all three of the JURASSIC PARK characters being put in danger:
The first thing that we shot … it was a scene with me and Laura Dern and Sam Neill and we were — I can't tell you much — but we were all day in a very tight, enclosed space. You'll see — it's a mystery you'll solve when you see [the movie.] The three of us were in a tiny little space and we were being menaced by — I can't even tell you — a surprising faction of prehistoric creatures that you've never seen before. … We were acting in a life and death situation. We think it might be the last moments of our lives and we're all bonding with each other in an emotional and somewhat hilarious way."
We haven't seen those characters face a life or death situation together since 1993, so it sounds like that's going to be a very fun moment to watch play out in JURASSIC WORLD: DOMINION.
Goldblum also mentioned that they have been dealing with a lot of animatronic dinosaurs on set:
There are a lot of animatronic things going on, so there is going to be less CGI (than in previous sequels) I think, and lots of things that we can act with and see with our own eyes. We saw some amazing things."
Directed by Colin Trevorrow from a screenplay he wrote with Emily Carmichael (based on an idea Trevorrow crafted with his JURASSIC WORLD and JURASSIC WORLD: FALLEN KINGDOM co-writer Derek Connolly), JURASSIC WORLD: DOMINION also stars Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, Daniella Pineda, Justice Smith, Jake Johnson, Omar Sy, Mamoudou Athie, DeWanda Wise, Dichen Lachman, Scott Haze, and Campbell Scott.
A collaboration between Universal Pictures and Amblin Entertainment, DOMINION is being executive produced by Trevorrow and Steven Spielberg, with Frank Marshall producing alongside Pat Crowley. Sara Scott, senior vice president of production at Universal, is overseeing the project for the studio.
So far, it appears that the film is on track for a June 11, 2021 release.
