Jurassic World 2 features a massive James Bond-esque opening action scene

Yesterday we let you guys know that JURASSIC WORLD: FALLEN KINGDOM writer-producer Colin Trevorrow said that the JURASSIC WORLD films were always meant to be a trilogy.

And today not only have an all-new still from the sequel to share (see above) but we have word from the film's director that the new movie will feature the biggest set-piece in a "Jurassic" picture.

J.A. Bayona on JURASSIC WORLD: FALLEN KINGDOM:

Fallen Kingdom stars with a massive action piece that feels like a James Bond prologue. And in the centre there is the biggest set-piece ever done for a Jurassic movie.

Sweet. I'm all for a James Bond-style action opening to the new film. Hit them hard and hit them fast, right? Let's hope the secret sequence holds up to the hype the director is laying out. Let's just hope we get to see a T-Rex ride a motorcycle off a cliff and onto a speeding train. I'd buy my ticket today.

Does the new still and/or the director's set-piece tease make you more (or less) excited for JURASSIC WORLD: FALLEN KINGDOM? Make sure to let us know in the comments below or social media!

JURASSIC WORLD: FALLEN KINGDOM:

It’s been four years since theme park and luxury resort Jurassic World was destroyed by dinosaurs out of containment. Isla Nublar now sits abandoned by humans while the surviving dinosaurs fend for themselves in the jungles. When the island’s dormant volcano begins roaring to life, Owen (Chris Pratt) and Claire (Bryce Dallas Howard) mount a campaign to rescue the remaining dinosaurs from this extinction-level event.  Owen is driven to find Blue, his lead raptor who’s still missing in the wild, and Claire has grown a respect for these creatures she now makes her mission.  Arriving on the unstable island as lava begins raining down, their expedition uncovers a conspiracy that could return our entire planet to a perilous order not seen since prehistoric times.

The film is directed by J.A. Bayona and stars Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, Daniella Pineda, Toby Jones, Rafe Spall, Justice Smith, Ted Levine, Geraldine Chaplin, B.D. Wong, and Jeff Goldblum.

JURASSIC WORLD: FALLEN KINGDOM hits June 22, 2018.
