Right on the "heels" of the groundbreaking news that Bryce Dallas Howard won't be wearing pumps in the next JURASSIC WORLD movie comes a genuine update on the sequel. The J.A. Bayona-directed flick has cast Justice Smith in an unspecified role.
Smith (pictured below) is the lead in Baz Luhrman's Netflix series The Get Down. He also starred in the YA adaptation PAPER TOWNS. Aside from that, his credits are pretty limited. Rather big break right here.
The plot of JURASSIC WORLD 2 (probably not the final title) is unknown, but the first film's director Colin Trevorrow has said this about it:
The dinosaurs will be a parable of the treatment animals receive today: the abuse, medical experimentation, pets, having wild animals in zoos like prisons, the use the military has made of them, animals as weapons.
The second part will be a very different movie that will explore new paths. For that reason, it was clear that it needed to be Bayona who would direct it, in order to have it grow and evolve with his very personal vision."
Trevorrow and his partner Derek Connolly wrote the script for the new film.
Smith joins returning castmembers Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard, as well as Rafe Spall and Toby Jones. The film is apparently shooting in England in the spring.
