After adding names like Awkwafina, Danny DeVito, and Danny Glover to the roster, Sony has just announed that the teen cast of JUMANJI: WELCOME TO THE JUNGLE – Alex Wolff (HEREDDITARY), Ser’Darius Blain (STAR TREK: INTO DARKNESS), Madison Iseman (GOOSEBUMPS 2: HAUNTED HALLOWEEN and Morgan Turner (REMEMBER ME) – are set to join Dwayne Johnson, Jack Black, Kevin Hart and Karen Gillan for the highly-anticipated sequel.
As you're likely to recall – assuming that you've already seen Sony's $962M-grossing box office smash – Wolff played Spencer in the original, who after being transported into the deadly game of Jumanji, converted into Johnson's Smolder Bravestone. As for Blain, he starred as Fridge, who then morphed into Hart's Franklin Finbar character. As for Madison Iseman, she starred as Bethany, a bubble gum popping, cell phone-obsessed teen who later becomes Black's Professor Shelly Oberson. Lastly, we find Morgan Turner returning to the franchise, who in the original portrayed Martha, a bookish young woman who plays the game of Jumanji as Gillan's Ruby Roundhouse.
For those of you who enjoyed Jake Kasdan's directing work on JUMANJI: WELCOME TO THE JUNGLE, you'll be pleased to know that he'll be back in the director's chair for the sequel. In addition to helming the film, he'll also co-write the script with Scott Rosenberg and Jeff Pinkner. Meanwhile, Matt Tolmach is getting back in the game as the film's producer, with Kasdan and Seven Bucks’ Dwayne Johnson, Dany Garcia, and Hiram Garcia also producing.
Welp, there's no better way to polish your rising star than to appear in the sequel to one of 2017's biggest breakout hits, amiright? For the moment, plot details for Sony's sequel to JUMANJI: WELCOME TO THE JUNGLE are under wraps, though I'll be you two of my lives in the game that the follow-up will feature Johnson and the gang returning to the jungle for another adventure filled with danger, delightful surprises, and life lessons to be learned.
The sequel to JUMANJI: WELCOME TO THE JUNGLE is set for a December 13, 2019 release.
