Although it's not true for everyone, most characters who survive the events of a JURASSIC PARK movie have been back for a sequel, and that's definitely true of the upcoming JURASSIC WORLD: DOMINION, which features the return of characters from both the original JURASSIC PARK trilogy as well as the two JURASSIC WORLD films. In addition to Jeff Goldblum as Dr. Ian Malcolm, Sam Neill as Dr. Alan Grant, and Laura Dern as Dr. Ellie Sattler, DOMINION will also include BD Wong as Dr. Henry Wu, Omar Sy as Barry Sembène, Campbell Scott as Dr. Lewis Dodgson, and many more.
That said, there is one major franchise character who has never returned for a sequel, and that's Dr. Sarah Harding, the paleontologist played by Julianne Moore in THE LOST WORLD: JURASSIC PARK. You might think, well, Julianne Moore is a big star, perhaps she didn't want to come back, but you'd be wrong! While speaking with Collider about her upcoming film THE GLORIAS, Julianne Moore not only revealed that she'd be down to return to the JURASSIC PARK franchise, but that she's never even been asked!
Yeah, Sarah Harding. Maybe she’s not done yet. I don’t know. But no one has approached me. That’s ok! But if they did? Yeah, sure! Of course, of course!
As someone who would love to see Julianne Moore fawning over a baby Stegosaurus once again, that's a damn shame. Perhaps there's room for the return of Dr. Harding in the post-JURASSIC WORLD: DOMINION world. Although the upcoming sequel has been billed as the third and final installment of the JURASSIC WORLD trilogy, franchise producer Frank Marshall has said that the film won't be bringing the entire series to a conclusion. "It's the start of a new era," Marshall said. "The dinosaurs are now on the mainland amongst us, and they will be for quite some time, I hope." JURASSIC WORLD: DOMINION is slated to hit theaters on June 11, 2021.
Would you like to see Julianne Moore return to the franchise at some point? Which other surviving franchise characters would you like to see again?
