As a massive fan of all five original PLANET OF THE APES films, I was overjoyed when RISE OF THE PLANET OF THE APES not only turned out to be a good film, but one successful enough to kick off a whole new franchise. Matt Reeves' sequel, DAWN OF THE PLANET OF THE APES, somehow managed to top its predecessor in both critical praise and box-office and just recently, Reeves started production on WAR FOR THE PLANET OF THE APES. It's a marvelous time to be an Apes fan.
Per THR, it has been announced that Judy Greer, who portrayed Caesar's wife Cornelia in DAWN OF THE PLANET OF THE APES, will be returning to the role for WAR FOR THE PLANET OF THE APES. Greer will of course be joined by Andy Serkis and other confirmed cast members include Woody Harrelson, Steve Zahn, Gabriel Chavarria, and Karin Konoval as Maurice the orangutan. It's good to have Greer back; her part may not have been huge, but it was a pivotal one. Director Matt Reeves has already shared a photo from the film's Vancouver set, here's hoping it's the first of many.
WAR FOR THE PLANET OF THE APES will open on July 14, 2017.
