Whoops, wrong Journey!
Looks like the $275 million and growing box office for JOURNEY 2: THE MYSTERIOUS ISLAND has guaranteed a third go round for the franchise. New Line has locked in director Brad Peyton and screenwriters Brian and Mark Gunn for the film tentatively set for a 2014 release.
The first JOURNEY felt like a direct to video quality movie dressed up to cash in on the 3D fad. JOURNEY 2 definitely had better effects but still lacked the quality I would like to see in a kid-oriented action movie. Definitely a step up from SPY KIDS, but not quite there yet. Let’s hope that Dwayne Johnson returns for the next film. That guy can make pretty much anything entertaining.
