After all of this waiting – the film has been sitting on the shelve since 2009 – I had pretty much given up hope on ever seeing THE CABIN IN THE WOODS, but the day I never thought would come is finally on its way. Lionsgate will release it in theaters on April 13, 2012.
Friday the 13th in a appropriate date for a horror flick about young people in a cabin in the woods, don’t ya think? It may be a long ways off – especially since there were rumors of an October release – but I’m just happy that people will finally have the chance to see it.
The anticipated movie is co-written by Joss Whedon (“BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER” creator) and Drew Goddard (CLOVERFIELD), with Goddard trying his hand at directing. It stars Richard Jenkins, Bradley Whitford, Jesse Williams, Chris Hemsworth, Fran Kranz, Kristen Connolly, Anna Hutchison, Brian J. White and Amy Acker (below).
THE CABIN IN THE WOODS’ storyline provides a new twist on a classic scenario — in this case the young-people-stranded-in-the-woods horror trope.
