UPDATE: It appears Trank deleted some of his tweets since this exchange, but you can still see the back and forth below. This also deleted the video of Trank saying, "I disown [Fantastic Four], but it's a part of me."
When Twentieth Century Fox tasked CHRONICLE director Josh Trank with rebooting the Fantastic Four, fans were excited for a new take on Marvel's first family, but those hopes were dashed when FANTASTIC FOUR quickly become a critical and box-office disappointment. Rumours swirled that the studio hadn't been entirely pleased with the original cut of FANTASTIC FOUR and had ordered reshoots which altered Trank's story. Prior to its release, Trank tweeted, "A year ago I had a fantastic version of this. And it would have received great reviews. You'll probably never see it. That's reality though." The director also recently reviewed the film, having not watched it since before it hit theaters. His verdict – It's alright.
Our own Editor-in-Chief Paul Shirey recently chatted with Josh Trank on Twitter, and after saying that he hadn't heard Trank disown FANTASTIC FOUR, the director responded with a short video to set the record straight. Trank also expressed an interest in a sitdown interview sometime next year, which would be amazing! Sorry, fantastic!

I will 100% do a sit down interview with you on camera in March or July

I’d love to. Dude, come on the podcast anytime. Open invite. Talk about whatever you want.

Okay, I’m working [intensely] for the next 4 month on crazy shit but you have my word
— Josh Trank (@joshuatrank) November 27, 2019
Josh Trank took it one step further and suggested that Zack Snyder and Joe Carnahan, directors who have both had experience dealing with studio meddling, join him for an epic interview.
Zack Snyder and I would go for the most intense walk on the beach in post 2000’s movie history —- just add @carnojoe into the mix and the sun would melt

Faaaaaaaaaack. That’s a conversation that needs to be filmed and broadcast, man.
— Paul Shirey (@arcticninjapaul) November 27, 2019
Talk to our man Zack, have JoBlo pay for the production, and I’ll be there with fucking sandals.
And I never wear sandals.
— Josh Trank (@joshuatrank) November 28, 2019
We’d run it in a heartbeat. Don’t have corporate anybody to answer to or any reason not to. Fuck, this is the stuff everyone WANTS to know, rather than the crap we get spoon-fed.
— Paul Shirey (@arcticninjapaul) November 28, 2019
Hey, get Zack in and I’m in. A thousand fucking percent.
Let’s heal film twitter, one unexpected JoBlo produced piece of content at a time.
— Josh Trank (@joshuatrank) November 28, 2019
I will work what I can on my end to make it happen. It’ll take some time, but we can do it. Bet your ass I’ll follow up. Either way, look forward to having you on the podcast when you’re free. We’ll get into whatever weeds you want to get into.

I think we can all agree that this would be f**king amazing. Keep your fingers crossed! Josh Trank's next film, FONZO, focuses on the the final years of Al Capone (Tom Hardy) after nearly a decade of imprisonment. Suffering from the debilitating effects of syphilis, Capone is haunted by the violent and brutal events of his past. As for when we'll finally get to see FONZO, Trank said that it will hit "Film fests [in] 2020 and I seriously cannot f**king wait."
