Josh Brolin has been cast in the role of Cable for Deadpool 2!

It's official, folks! Josh Brolin has been cast in the role of Cable for David Leitch's DEADPOOL 2! This marks Brolin's second turn as a major Marvel-related character as the seasoned actor has already been waiting in the shadows as Thanos to one day destroy the Avengers. Additionally, sources are reporting that Brolin has inked a four-picture deal that's now tied to the time-traveling, gun-toting, silver-haired character. One would assume that the four-picture deal could be a nod to there being an X-FORCE film in our future as well.

Of course, Ryan Reynolds will be reprising his role as the wise-cracking, chimichanga eating Merc with a Mouth for more R-Rated fun in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Cable was co-created by DEADPOOL co-creator Rob Liefeld and writer Louise Simonson, and is described as in more ways than one as being the opposite of Deadpool. As he's known to many Marvel fans, Cable is a born leader who is used to being obeyed by those he works with while remaining quite controlled but almost always with an aura of seething violence invisibly pulsing around him.

In the comics, Nathan Christopher Charles Summers AKA Cable was from the future, and stands as the adult son of Scott Summers (Cyclops) and Madelyne Pryor (a clone of Jean Grey), and the half-brother of Rachel Summers. Cable hails from an alternate and possible future timeline, after having been transported while still in his infancy to the future. He then went on to be a warrior before returning to the present to address some unfinished business.

DEADPOOL 2 is expected to release sometime in 2018.
