Josh Brolin compares playing Thanos to doing an “experimental theatre piece”

Fun isn’t something one considers when balancing the universe, but Josh Brolin seems to have had a hell of a time playing Thanos in the upcoming AVENGERS movies.

After doing a small cameo as the character in 2014’s GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY, Brolin will finally get to bring pain and death to Earth as he completes his Infinity Gauntlet. He will be a force the Avengers have never faced before, not only in terms of incredible force but also his sheer presence. You don’t need to look past the trailer to see Brolin has given life to the CG character, and in a new Instagram post compared the experience to doing experimental theatre…with a little dash craziness thrown in.

“Punk rock” could be one way of describing bringing destruction to the world, so in that case, Thanos will indeed be very punk rock, and very early in the movie. Not too long ago word came out from Kevin Feige that we will see how bad Thanos is within the first five minutes of the upcoming AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR, no doubt wreaking immense havoc. I can totally see him having a giant green mohawk while doing these evil deeds.

Okay, I’m not ashamed to admit I didn’t know what Brolin was referencing there once or twice, but he seems to have gotten so much more out of this role than you would expect. These kinds of motion capture roles may be a bit tricky for any actor to embrace, but Brolin seems to have stepped into the massive boots of Thanos on a level that goes beyond just putting on a weird suit with little dots on it.

AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR will begin breaking every box office record as of May 4.
