Joseph Gordon-Levitt is Uber’s bad boy CEO in Super Pumped teaser

Showtime has released the first teaser for Super Pumped: The Battle for Uber, a new series that tells the story of the rise of one of Silicon Valley’s most successful and destructive companies. Joseph Gordon-Levitt stars as Travis Kalanick, Uber’s CEO who was ultimately ousted in a boardroom coup.

Super Pumped will “depict the roller-coaster ride of the upstart transportation company, embodying the highs and lows of Silicon Valley. Even amid the radical upheaval generated within the global tech capital, Uber stands out as both a marvel and a cautionary tale, featuring internal and external battles that ripple with unpredictable consequences.” The series is based on Mike Isaac’s bestselling book by the same name and was developed by Billions co-creators Brian Koppelman and David Levien. In addition to Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Super Pumped: The Battle for Uber also stars Uma Thurman, Kyle Chandler, Elisabeth Shue, Kerry Bishé, Geidt Babak Tafti, and Hank Azaria.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt is a remarkably intelligent and charismatic actor, embodying charm with an unpredictable edge,” said Showtime’s EVP Scripted Programming Amy Israel when the series was announced. “We are beyond excited to see what he will bring to the role of Travis Kalanick, the hyper-brilliant and controversial CEO whose ambition and reckless drive threatened the very enterprise he was determined to build. We are equally thrilled to be partnering on another series with Brian Koppelman, David Levien and Beth Schacter, who always deliver provocative and deeply entertaining shows that drive cultural conversation.” Although Super Pumped: The Battle for Uber was originally developed as a limited series, it has transformed into an anthology series with each subsequent season expected to explore a story that rocked the business world to its core and changed the culture.

Super Pumped: The Battle for Uber will debut on Showtime on February 27, 2022.
