Joseph Gordon-Levitt gives perfect response about if he’d return to the DCEU

Joseph Gordon-Levitt proved in 2012's The Dark Knight Rises that you can bring in a new character during a film's final chapter that actually resonates. Levitt played a Gotham City beat cop named John Blake, a character imbued with honesty and integrity that seemed to be one of the last few people in Gotham that believed in doing what's right. During the film's final moments, the character was set up for a much larger role when his legal name was revealed to be Robin and he is gifted the necessary tools to take over the Batman mantle for Christian Bale's Bruce Wayne.

Blake's storyline ended with that film because The Dark Knight Rises was the final chapter of Christopher Nolan's Batman trilogy and from there Warner Bros. moved by creating a shared DC Universe that is a part of a different continuity from The Dark Knight Trilogy. The DCEU began with Man of Steel and Ben Affleck was later cast as Bruce Wayne in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. We all know where things went from there as the DCEU became very muddled, slightly mediocre, and sometimes pretty bad but Zack Snyder tried to right the ship with his Snyder Cut of Justice League, which was well-received. This led to the director giving various interviews during the promotion of the film and during one interview Snyder revealed that he considered bringing Gordon-Levitt back as Batman instead of Ben Affleck.  Considering this news is out there, the actor was asked about this scenario, and he gave a pretty funny response about whether he would ever come back to the DCEU.

Gordon-Levitt was doing an interview with Jake's Takes to promote his new Apple TV+ series Mr.Corman and he was asked if he would be interested in playing Robin or Nightwing alongside Ben Affleck and Michael Keaton's version of Bruce Wayne in the upcoming multiverse film, The Flash. In true Joseph Gordon-Levitt fashion, the actor responded by saying "To be perfectly honest, [I'm] completely out of touch with everything you just said." Straight and to the point, thus proving that the actor has not been aware of the goings-on with DC since he appeared in The Dark Knight Rises. You can check out the original post below about Gordon-Levitt's comment:

I've always liked how The Dark Knight Rises ended. Even though it sets up this new chapter with Blake, it was a proper end to a trilogy that respected Batman's legacy while also signaling that his persona can live on through someone new. It would've been interesting to see Joseph Gordon-Levitt take on a role like that but I'm happy with letting my mind do the work on what may have happened next.

Would YOU like to see Joseph Gordon-Levitt back in the DCEU?
